Hollywood talent, Avatar tech to bring Hitman to life

Killing people as Agent 47 is about to get really real. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that IO Interactive is using performance capture of Hollywood actors to bring the upcoming Hitman: Absolution to life.

Confirmed are roles for Keith Carradine (as the game’s baddie, Blake Dexter) and Marsha Thomason as Agent 47 “controller” Diana Burnwood.  Performances were captured by Giant Studios, the same studio that James Cameron used for his hit, Avatar.

IO Interactive tells The Hollywood Reporter that it’s aiming for a “more stylized, more serious and darker game” with Absolution. With that new tone comes a stronger focus on characters, which led to the decision to work with professional screen actors like Thomason and Carradine.

“There are more central characters in this game than we’ve ever dealt with before and they all have names and an important role in the story,” the game’s director Tore Blystad says, “so working with Hollywood talent was crucial to us. It’s important within the framework of the game for players to be able to connect with these characters.”
