My quest for the ultimate Hotline Miami shirt is nearly at an end
“Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.” — Oscar Wilde
Back in 2013, we ran a story on a beautiful piece of art produced by UK-based freelance illustrator and comic book artist Mark Penman. Out of all the Hotline Miami fan art that I’ve come across, Penman’s is easily my favorite. His depiction of Jacket and his collection of masks resonates with me like no other.
In fact, I loved this piece so much that I took it upon myself to approach the artist to purchase the rights to produce a limited quantity of t-shirts for personal use. Sadly, I was too late in my request; I was informed that the rights to the design had already been turned over to the good people at Dennaton Games.
Fortunately, after all this time the design is about to become available to the public via iam8bit’s online store. Alongside Penman’s work, you’ll also find t-shirts and fine art prints by other talented artists Niklas Åkerblad and Alberto Massaggia.
Pre-orders are available now, with the products scheduled for release in late November. While the asking price of just under $30 including shipping may be too steep for some, I think it’s a fair price for what you’re getting. It’s a gorgeous piece of art and will make a lovely addition to anyone’s collection of gaming-related t-shirts.
