How and where to get Ammo Mod Circuit Boards in MW3 Zombies

All my time spent watching Reboot is about to pay off.

While I don’t care for Warzone‘s PvP-oriented gameplay, I do like the idea of a big open map full of objectives to complete. The teams behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 heard the silent cry from my heart and turned Urzikstan into a PvE zombie hellscape.

Aside from the in-game objectives that can be acquired, there are missions tied to the larger story component that should be completed to experience the full and robust flavor of MW3 Zombies. One such task requires players to track down Ammo Mod Circuit Boards for the Automated Backup mission.

Tier 3 of Chapter 1 in Operation Deadbolt tasks players with activating three Deadbolt Turrets with Ammo Mod Circuit Boards. Completing this task will award players with the Death Perception Can and 1500 XP.

These Ammo Mod Circuit Boards are Rare (blue) Items that are most commonly found in Reward Caches. The best way to find these is by clearing Infested Strongholds, which are marked on your map with the skull wearing a crown.

Clearing out Infested Strongholds is a straightforward, if dangerous, affair. They’re typically small rooms, but are filled with poisonous gas and spawn multiple enemies. While you don’t need it, I highly recommend having a gas mask before tackling an Infested Stronghold. There’s enough to deal with that you don’t want to add damage over time as well. Either way, destroy all of the glowing yellow Cysts to clear the stronghold. Check corners and the ceiling as they like to hide.

Now, bear in mind that the Ammo Mod Circuit Boards aren’t a guaranteed drop. You might have to clear a few Infected Strongholds before one appears. Fortunately, the boards also have a chance to appear in Loot Caches, Merc Caches, and even out in the open (incredibly rare).

Where to find the Deadbolt Turrets

With our coveted item in hand, now it’s time to track down the Deadbolt Turrets. While these spawn randomly on the Urzikstan map, their positions are marked by a convenient turret icon. Head on over to the nearest one, slot in the board, and enjoy as it gets to work renewing the zombies’ subscription to the grave.

Even better, the turrets’ kills count as yours, so you’ll generate passive XP. However, there are two more to activate and there’s a timer ticking down, so it’s best to get moving. With all three activated, you’re job here is done. Go exfil and mark this down as a win.
