Any time a new Call of Duty entry drops, the one question on everyone’s mind is, “How many gigs will this file need?” The franchise has been known to take up a substantial amount of space, especially with the introduction of CoD HQ. So, if you’re wondering about the Black Ops 6 install size, here’s what you can expect.

How many gigs is Black Ops 6?

As of now, Activision has yet to provide a definitive answer on the Black Ops 6 storage size. However, what we do know is that the speculated 300GB file size is not a confirmed figure for the full release. The Call of Duty Updates page has clarified this, stating that the estimated storage space on BO6’s pre-order site is not an accurate reflection of the actual download size.

The 300GB size is a cumulative figure from the full installation of previous entries, such as MW2, Warzone, and MW3. It’s important to note that you can download Black Ops 6 as a standalone game without the necessity of having the other titles.

Based on the file sizes of previous games, we can try to estimate the Black Ops 6 file size. For example, Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer and Campaign Packs are about 58GB. On the other hand, my install size currently sits at a whopping 200GB due to other patches like Warzone and MW2. This suggests that if you want the full Black Ops 6 experience, you may need to set aside a significant amount of storage space.

We can also look at past Black Ops iterations to get another rough install size for the sixth entry. While BO4 requires a minimum space of 42.35 GB, Black Ops Cold War needs at least 312 GB (shown in the PlayStation Store). Although the Cold War download is pretty hefty, you can lower it by removing specific modes.

By considering these numbers, I suggest having 100GB or even 200GB to play it safe. Fortunately, the Black Ops 6 Beta file size will be much lower than this, as these patches are roughly 27GB. Whatever the case may be, we’ll make sure to update this guide as more information becomes available.
