Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion is quite a bit more linear than previous games in the series, but if you’re going to get lost in one place, it’s Chapter 5. More precisely, it will probably be around the time you need to destroy the ore processing plants. Here’s what you need to do to destroy them.
There is a pretty hard-to-miss scene midway through Chapter 5 where you need to ride an incredibly slow rock transport over hazardous magma. It sucks, mostly because if you miss your ride you have to wait about a decade for it to come back.
The cart passes through a few tunnels on its way to the other end of its track. You first need to disembark in the second tunnel (the one after the first group of enemies). This is given away by some Life Force gems that lead into an exit midway through. If you follow that, you’ll eventually be led to ore processing plant A and will be given the objective to destroy it.
I don’t know why. I don’t know why Oblivion needs ore, nor do I know why it’s important that it doesn’t get it. Very little in this game makes sense.
How to destroy the ore processing plants
Destroying something may seem obvious, but would you recognize an Oblivion ore processor if you saw it? I wouldn’t. In fact, the reason I’m writing this guide is because I did a few circles in this area before I figured out what it wanted from me. The header is a picture of the ore processor. It’s hard to miss if you know what you’re looking for.
To destroy it, you need to hit the turbines (I think that’s what they are) on the sides with explosives. Any explosive. It will even detonate with one of Danielle’s Tek Arrows. It won’t take much to set them off. Once both turbines are destroyed, it will then let you leave the room.
You’ll run into ore processor B later on. It’s a bit harder to miss since you’ll be blocked from proceeding until you destroy it. You’ll either have to crawl as Joseph or use your energy grapple as Danielle to get to it. However, it gets blown up in the exact same manner.
