Season 7 of My Hero Academia is already in full swing, and it’s doing a good job portraying the series’ final saga. It not only gives the spotlight to the main cast but also to the side characters. It highlights the importance of teamwork, especially the vital roles that the supporting characters play
As a matter of fact, Neito Monoma absolutely dominated the entirety of episode 6. He played the vital role of copying Kurogiri’s Quirk to bring the heroes together, a la Doctor Strange, and then used the very same Quirk to separate the League’s main members. After that, he copied Eraser Head’s Erasure Quirk to debuff Shigaraki, giving those facing the villain a fighting chance. So, how exactly does this Copy Quirk of his work?
As its name suggests, Monoma’s Copy Quirk lets him duplicate another character’s Quirk and use them as he sees fit. The only prerequisite is for Monoma to come into physical contact with his target. He can hold up to four Quirks, though each Quirk can only be used for ten minutes maximum. When the timer runs out, Monoma must touch the original user for another round of use. This is the reason why Aizawa remained in contact with Monoma as the latter constantly kept Erasure activated.
Similar to the other Quirks in My Hero Academia, the Copy Quirk is not all-powerful. Monoma can only use one Copied Quirk at a time. He also cannot copy Quirks that require stored resources like Fat Gum’s Fat Absorption or Eri’s Rewind. Furthermore, his Quirk is limited by his body. If his body cannot sustain the copied Quirk’s drawbacks, then he can sustain damage or even perish from its usage.
