About 20-30 hours for the story
Hogwarts Legacy is an open world game, which means it could be anywhere from 10-50+ hours, depending on how meaty the main story is. Based on how much free time you have, either end of the spectrum could be considered either a blessing or a curse. To help you plan out how much you’ll need to dedicate to it, here’s a full breakdown of what the game has to offer.
The main story will run you around 20-30 hours, depending on your pacing
We cleared Hogwarts Legacy in roughly 25 hours, which feels about where most people will land. That includes a good chunk of sidequest completion, as well as several hours of random open world exploring. I can definitely see some players finishing it significantly faster, especially if they’re skipping through dialogue and don’t participate in a lot of sidequests.
Hogwarts Legacy does level-lock many main quests (which is more noticeable later on), so odds are you will be doing some side stuff, but not enough where things get significantly bogged down. If you do stop to dabble in a ton of sidequests, you’ll likely go above that 30 hour approximation.
About that!
If you do everything in Hogwarts Legacy, it’ll likely take you around 60 hours or more
It’s very easy to get sidetracked in Hogwarts Legacy.
Some quest chains will chain into more quests, and there’s constant positive reinforcement with the challenge system, lore nuggets to locate, items to experiment with, and builds to try. Each individual person could spend hours tweaking their apartment-like Room of Requirement space, or exploring the open world.
Clearing 100% of the content-related stuff (mostly stemming from side missions) could take you upwards of 40 hours or more, with the stipulation that it’ll take even longer (60 hours or more) to finish everything, lore tidbits and all. Plus, there’s an achievement/trophy for reaching the level cap of 40, and four achievements for finding the map chamber (a roughly mid-game quest) with characters from each house.
If you really want to dig down into everything the game has to offer, there’s a lot there.
