Exploring Solistia
Octopath Traveler 2 is set in the world of Solistia, which is a slightly more modern environment than the game’s predecessor which saw players traverse a much more medieval land. Eight new characters in this new environment are on a variety of quests: Agnea Bristarnia, the dancer seeks to be a world-famous entertainer, whilst the warrior Hikari Ku is on a quest to return to his homeland after battle.
There are additional crossed paths in Octopath Traveler 2 which emphasize the separate party members interacting and engaging with one another. With eight characters on eight different quests, there is plenty of play time to be sought in Octopath Traveler 2, but just how much is plenty?
How long to beat Octopath Traveler 2?
As reported by NoisyPixel, the game’s producer Masashi Takashi confirmed in an interview with Famitsu that Octopath Traveler 2 will take around 70 hours to beat the main story. For the completionists among us, it’ll take roughly 100 hours to complete all of the side missions in the game. The first Octopath Traveler takes between 60 and 100 hours to beat, and its sequel has followed in its footsteps in terms of play length, despite having differences from the original. Of course, this is a common trait of most modern JRPGs, so it’s unlikely to come as much of a surprise. After consulting with our reviewer, they mentioned that this seems accurate from their progress in the game so far.
With the addition of crossed paths which see the party members interacting with one another more than ever before as well as an abundance of side stories, the true length of the game depends on the player and how they choose to approach the many possible quests available. Some helpful tips to cut down that playtime include fast traveling and raising battle speed.
There are also some early game tips that can help players optimize their progress, as well as remember to save the game progress regularly. These helpful hints should lead to a streamlined and pleasant Octopath Traveler 2 experience.
