It’s a separate thing entirely
Whenever a new DLC arrives it’s always tough to figure out, at a glance, how to actually access it until you buy it and dive in yourself. Sometimes it can require a high level character and tie itself to progression. Sometimes it’s completely separate. That latter option is how Nintendo and Monolith Soft decided to approach Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Future Redeemed, so let’s quickly break down how you’ll actually be playing this DLC.
On the main menu, if you own the season pass, you’ll get the option to play Future Redeemed
So long as you have the season pass and 2.0 installed (check for the latest update if you’re on 1.3.0): you’ll be able to queue up Future Redeemed. It’s a segmented DLC, so you’ll be able to play it even if you didn’t finish the core game.
Press the “+” button to access Future Redeemed, which will sport a brand new title menu and save file. After a short load time, the game will refresh, and you’ll have access to Future Redeemed. You can toggle the overall options here, and play Future Redeemed on easy, medium, or hard difficulty. After starting a new game, you’ll be whisked away into the DLC with a cinematic intro and the new story will begin.
To go back to the core game, press “+” again on Future Redemeed‘s main menu.
