The Dave the Diver Kronosaurus fight is actually two consecutive boss battles in one. You’ll first have to beat John Watson before the Kronosaurus appears. Here are the strategies you’ll need to beat both John Watson and the Kronosaurus in this double boss fight!
Defeat John Watson in the hydrothermal vents
As you approach the entrance to the Divine Tree Control Room, John Watson of Sea Blue appears for a final confrontation. This time, he’s in a submersible craft that shoots tracking bombs at you. These bombs follow you for a set distance before stopping and exploding.
Swim around the submersible in circles to make the bombs explode near the sub. Some of the bombs may miss since the sub can move side to side to dodge some explosions. However, I was able to swim around in a continuous counter-clockwise motion to make most of the bombs detonate on the sub.
Use the missile launcher against the Kronosaurus
When John Watson takes enough damage, the Kronosaurus appears and brutally murders him in front of you. There’s no time to be shocked, though, as the Kronosaurus immediately turns its sights on you.
Luckily, the missile launcher from John Watson’s sub has broken off and is fully functional. You can pick up the launcher and use it against the Kronosaurus. To do this, swim down to the missile launcher and grab it by holding right-click. Make sure you’re facing the Kronosaurus and hold left-click to take aim. When the target indicator flashes and turns green, release left-click to fire a missile.
The missile tracks the enemy and will always hit, dealing a large amount of damage. Dave will also drop the missile launcher as soon as it fires. It will have to recharge before you can fire it again. In the meantime, swim around and dodge attacks, taking potshots with your weapon when you can. You’ll know when the missile launcher is ready again when it flashes white.
Dodge or interrupt the Kronosaurus’ fire attack
Try to stay near the missile launcher even when it’s on cooldown. The Kronosaurus can breathe freaking fire in an attack that sweeps across most of the screen. You can try to avoid this attack by positioning yourself directly above or below the Kronosaurus, but this is difficult to achieve. The best way to avoid the fire is to use the missile launcher to hit the Kronosaurus as it’s charging or performing the attack. The missile blast will deal damage and interrupt the attack.
Keep hitting the Kronosaurus with missiles until it goes down. Beating it takes around four missiles.
