There are a few bosses that you’ll have to stop and deal with in Animal Well if you plan on completing its main objective. Thankfully, some of them, like the Seahorse, are relatively straightforward.
While Animal Well doesn’t really have any combat, it’s got no shortage of creatures that want to eat or kill you as you explore. It makes the adventure far more challenging, especially as you try solving puzzles. Enter the Seahorse boss. A creature that attempts to kill you in a claustrophobic arena while you’re puzzle-solving. Don’t worry, though. You can get through this quickly and defeat Animal Well’s aquatic pest.
How to defeat the Seahorse boss in Animal Well
To defeat the Seahorse boss in Animal Well, you must trick it into filling the three pillars with water. You should be familiar with this puzzle from earlier, as there are at least two other rooms containing similar puzzles. This time, however, you’ve got to convince the Seahorse to spray in the right area.
The Seahorse will spray toward the platform you’re standing on when it surfaces, but its head will appear one platform to the left or right, depending on the direction it’s swimming. The trick is to get it to spray directly into the two pillars on either side of the arena first. All you need to do is stand in the right place and get the Seahorse to spray you.
Then, for the third pillar in the middle, you’ve got to angle the two mirrors in the room using their cranks. I managed to do it with one on the Steam Deck, so it’s definitely possible without needing to bounce water between the two of them. The one thing I noticed is that you’ve really got to angle the mirrors well, turning the crank a fraction at a time to ensure you don’t over or undershoot the pillars.
What to do with the B. Flame in Animal Well
Once you have the B. Flame in Animal Well, you must return it to the boss statue room. This is a room you’ll travel through quite often, containing four statues of creatures you face in the well. The Seahorse is one of them.
Once you’re in the boss room, interact with the Seahorse statue to insert the B. Flame before moving on to find the next boss you must defeat.
