He’s not as ferocious as he seems
The infamous Ramon Salazar returns in theĀ Resident Evil 4 remake, and fans likely wouldn’t have it any other way. Here’s how to take him out and make your way to the island for the final act of the game.
Go in guns blazing
To do the most damage to Ramon, you’ll want to only fire on him when his body is exposed from his monstrous shell: like the image above details.
As the fight kicks off, you get a prime opportunity to blast Ramon with your strongest weapon. We recommend using the magnum, but you can also get some great rifle potshots in (if you have ample ammo, otherwise save it for later in the fight when Ramon is zipping around the ceiling).
This is one of the last times you’ll be able to safely remain this close to Ramon, so make use of it.
This fight only has one phase, and you want to make sure all your bullets count
Don’t worry about weird stilted cutscenes or transitional phases here: what you see is what you get. You’ll need to blast Ramon with everything you have and hit his true form until he’s dead, which should only take a few minutes (give or take, based on the weapons you have available).
One key strategy is avoiding Ramon’s goop breath attacks, either by using the environment (putting a wall between you and his mouth where the projectile vomits out), or simply running around the spray. Focus on avoiding the goop first, then, if you’re safe, blast him: then blast him again after he recovers from his spray attack (swapping to a higher-powered weapon is a great idea here). You can sometimes avoid the goop entirely by staying in the corners of the map, which is often a “safe spot” from his ranged attacks.
Here’s what I used to take down Ramon easily:
- A pistol for medium range
- Rifle shots when he was moving around the top of the arena
- A Magnum during/after his spit attack, when he’s sitting still
Always make sure you’re keeping your distance from Ramon, as he can chomp you with his mouth and take you out in a hit. Avoiding him isn’t hard to do as he leaps across the arena constantly in an effort to spit at you.
After you’re done the drawbridge at the top of the arena will open, and you’ll be on your way to Chapter 13. You’ll also get the “No Thanks, Bro!” achievement/trophy for finishing him off.
You can also opt for the Rocket Launcher for 80,000 Pesetas/gold
This is one of the scant few fights (alongside of Chief Mendez and Saddler) where a Rocket Launcher is be extremely useful, and will save you a ton of bullets and resources. Plus, there’s a perfect opportunity to use it here at the start of the encounter.
You can purchase one from The Merchant for 80,00 Pesetas right before the battle begins.
