There are a lot of fish to catch in Stardew Valley and while the fishing minigame can be infuriating at times, it’s worth searching for all of them. Eels are one fish that have a few requirements to meet before they can be caught. Here’s how to catch an Eel in Stardew Valley.
How to catch an Eel in Stardew Valley
Eels are an Ocean fish, so you’ll want to head down to the Beach in order to catch one. However, you’ll need to be wary of three things:
- The weather: Eels can only be caught while it’s raining
- The season: Eels can only be caught during Spring or Fall
- The time: Eels can only be caught between 4pm and 2am
However, if you happen to have some Magic Bait, you can use this to negate all of these things.
What are Eels used for in Stardew Valley?
There are a few different things that Eels can be useful for, but the most important one is the Night Fishing Bundle. This is part of the process of repairing the Community Center, so you’ll need to catch at least one Eel to progress through the story of Stardew Valley.
Other than this, Eels can be used as an ingredient in the following recipes:
- Fried Eel
- Maki Roll
- Quality Fertilizer
- Sashimi
- Spicy Eel
You can also use an Eel in the spool of the Sewing Machine in order to craft a Sailor Shirt, and it can be placed in the Dye Pots at Emily and Haley’s house as an Orange dye.
Eels can be placed in your Fish Pond and will reproduce every three days. Once in your Pond, Eels will produce Eel Roe, which can then be used in the following ways:
- As an ingredient in Aged Roe and Caviar
- In the spool of the Sewing Machine to create a Polka Dot Shirt
- 15 Roe is an option in the Fish Farmer’s Bundle in Pantry (Remixed)
