In Stardew Valley, the tiger trout is a, er, trout. That is to say, it’s a fish. Gills, fins, it has it all. It’s supposedly a rare hybrid trout, and according to the game, it can’t bear offspring. It can, however, be caught, and here’s how.
Tiger trout are river fish, which means you need to catch them in flowing water, like the stream that flows through Pelican Town and Cindersap Forest. It can also be caught within the Meadowlands, Forest, Riverlands, and Hill-Top farms.
However, the only seasons you can catch tiger trout are Fall and Winter. As always, if you need to catch one out of season, you can try your luck by using Magic Bait.
Aside from catching them, you can very rarely find them in Krobus’ shop in the sewers for 200G on Wednesdays, or at the traveling cart for 450-1000G.
Once caught, a tiger fish can be used to make sashimi. You can also use them as an ingredient for Maki Rolls or Quality Fertilizer. It is also one of the gifts that Willy likes.
