You’ll want to change characters in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League because each offers a different weapon set and alternate abilities.
Traversing with Harley Quinn or Captain Boomerang might be easier than King Shark, for example. Here’s how to do it!
When can you change characters in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League?
When you initially start the game and finish the tutorials, you’re offered the chance to pick a character out of the four. It makes it seem like you’re stuck with them throughout the playthrough, but after finishing the opening chapter, you can switch to another Suicide Squad member. When a pop-up says that multiplayer is available, you’ll know that you can change characters in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
How to switch characters
To switch from King Shark to Deadshot, for example, press the left D-Pad button. After that, a blue wheel should appear on-screen. Each D-Pad button represents a “hero” in your team. The diamonds are Harley Quinn, the boomerang is…Boomerang, Deadshot is the target symbol, and the shark fin is King Shark.
After that, your character will instantly change. The catch is that you can’t change characters in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League during missions. It’s a shame, but I guess it makes sense so the loot you get at the end of the quest is assigned to that anti-hero. We’ll soon be able to switch to The Joker in the future.
By the way, you can emote using the right D-Pad button.
Why would you want to play as a different “hero?”
Each character has their own traversal abilities and weapons on offer. For example, King Shark can hold a heavy weapon while Deadshot can’t. In addition, some missions boost your character’s XP if you play as them. You’ll get notified as to who when you accept the quest.
Some Riddler tasks also recommend certain characters to play as. For instance, use Your Dome says you should use King Shark to complete the task.
