How to complete 10 waves of Defense at Tessera on Venus in a single mission in Warframe

Defend just a little longer.

While you’re playing through Warframe‘s main quests on your way to the latest expansion, you’ll encounter an objective on Venus that might stop you. All you need to do is complete 10 waves of defense on Tessera, but the game can trick you into missing this without meaning to.

Venus is easily one of the best planets in Warframe, mostly because it hosts Fortuna, which might be the best bleak sci-fi representation of Earth’s future in video games. While Fortuna is fun and allows you to complete one of the game’s main quests, you’ll eventually want to move on to Mercury. One of the requirements for unlocking the Mercury Junction is completing 10 waves of Defense at Tessera, and that’s where you might run into a spot of bother.

To complete 10 waves of Defense at Tessera on Venus in a single mission in Warframe, you first need to unlock the Tessera node on Venus. It’s very close to the Earth Junction node, slightly above it, next to the E-Gate node on Venus, so it should be easy for you to find and jump into.

Defense is the only mission here, so playing it isn’t the problem. The mission type is extremely straightforward, tasking you with killing waves of enemies as they attempt to attack an objective you’re defending. Work your way through the waves until you hit the fifth one, which is where you might mess up.

At this point, after completing the fifth wave, the mission will prompt you with a choice. You can either leave the mission and collect your loot, or carry on fighting. I had trouble here because the visual you’re given isn’t especially clear. While the words Extract and Battle clearly mark your choices, in the heat of the moment, I didn’t take this in.

You must choose the image with Warframes fighting on it, the one on the right-hand side, to carry on fighting. This will allow you to battle through five more waves for a total of ten in a single mission. After that, you’ll get the prompt again and can choose to extract. If you do, you’ll collect more loot and successfully complete the Mercury Junction requirement.

Once you’ve done this, you can complete the story on Fortuna and then make your way to Fossa, after which you’ll have unlocked all the requirements to use the Mercury Junction and can push forward through the Origin System on your journey.
