It appears we won’t simply be bashing Vex frames in the first Destiny 2 Episode. No, we’re also doing science by collecting radiolite samples and specimens. If you’ve peaked at the Seasonal Challenges, you’ll know that we’re collecting several of these samples over the next few weeks.
Here’s how to get the first: Specimen ID: NES001 in the new Destiny 2 seasons replacement.
Destiny 2 Episodes: Previously, on Failsafe’s adventures…
Samples Deposited
Partway through “A Rising Chorus: Act I,” Failsafe will ask you to deposit the samples you had collected earlier into the Radiolite Bay. This futuristic trash can behind you and to the left is where you’ll deposit all future samples.
Failsafe has also devised a way to mine more radiolite veins by pushing them to the surface with a Piston Hammer. This hammer holds a total of five charges, which can be recharged by completing Echo activities throughout the system. Should it reach zero, the hammer will regenerate a single charge daily.
Extract Data & Activate the Planetary Assimilation Piston
This next step takes place entirely in “Arena: Breach Executable.” The first requirement for Extracted Data is straightforward, kill Vex to collect the data, and bank it at the various terminals throughout the activity.
The Planetary Assimilation Piston is the trickier portion. These are spread throughout the activity and aren’t indicated, even if you’re tracking the quest. Look for a tower of Vex data with circular bronze ornaments at the bottom. Those ornaments are your pistons. Interact with it to smack it with your hammer. Fortunately, if another member of your fireteam hits the piston, it will also count for you.
Speak with Failsafe
Speak with Failsafe aboard the H.E.L.M. for a debriefing. She’ll put the sample you collected into an incubator. Take the incubator to the tanks halfway between Failsafe and the front of the H.E.L.M. to place it. Congrats! You’ve officially begun an exciting journey that sits at a crossroads between geology and biology.
