Consult the all-knowing Cucco
Prophecies are a big driver for fantasy series, and The Legend of Zelda has had its fair share. You can’t really expect all of them to come from normal places, though. Some, like The All-Clucking Cucco, are downright strange.
This side adventure is part of the Lucky Clover Gazette quest line in Tears of the Kingdom. These adventures see Link and reporter pal Penn journey across Hyrule, visiting each stable and solving local problems while following leads on Princess Zelda’s whereabouts.
How to start The All-Clucking Cucco in TOTK
The All-Clucking Cucco side adventure starts out at the South Akkala Stable, to the southeast of Death Mountain’s peak. Though the environment can traditionally be hot, you won’t need any special Flame Guard equipment for this venture.
You can find Penn contemplating a prophecy near the stable. Chat with him, and he’ll tell you about a prophetic cucco — Zelda‘s version of chicken — helping those seeking advice.
Head up towards the tree he points out on the hill and you should see a line of folks, waiting for their prophecies to be told. When just one indecisive woman remains in line, go up and talk to her; she’ll cede her spot to you while she ponders what to ask.
The cucco will make it clear that it knows who you are, and what you seek. In return for its assistance, you’ll need to complete some trials.
How to complete the Cucco’s trials in The All-Clucking Cucco
Trial number one is a simple test of speed. The prophetic cucco will ask you to run from where you are to the top of the stable, reaching its peak within the time limit.
Your first instinct may be to climb, or even hastily construct a flying machine using your Zonai skills. For my own run, I opted for a simpler path. Just sprint down to the stable and use Ascend to rocket yourself up a few levels.
It might take some shimmying to manage, but it saves on time and resources. The cucco will congratulate you and offer a new trial.
Here, you’ll need to chop some trees into logs and bring them to the cucco. You’ll need three, and if you’ve already done the Lurelin Village Resoration Project, you’ll know that you need to bring logs and not wood. Just chop, Ultrahand-attach them together, and kinetically drag the whole pile up the hill.
It’s at this point that the cucco reveals that this all was, in fact, a trap. Yiga assassins will hop out and proceed to attack Link. They’re nothing if not persistent.
Once they’re dealt with, your partner Penn will fly over and recap the whole thing. While it’s just another fight with the Yiga Clan in the end, at least Penn gets an interesting local scoop.
You’ll get your rupees and any other awards you’ve accrued, depending on how many Lucky Clover Gazette quests you’ve completed thus far. Collect your bounty, ponder the prophecies untold, and head on back to Traysi at the Gazette for a pointer towards the next scoop.
