Fashion tourism
If you’re anything like me, you made visiting Kakariko Village a priority in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Not just to see what had happened to this landmark since Breath of the Wild, but also to expand your armor collection.
Also, if you’re like me, your jaw hit the floor when you saw the price of the armor. If you talk to the shopkeep there, Claree, she’ll tell you that there’s a reason for the outlandishly high prices. Turns out, it’s not just because she wants to gouge the tourists. Her grandmother is sick, and she’s trying to afford any necessary treatments.
This kicks off the Gloom-Borne Illness quest, which you’ll need to complete if you don’t want to dish out piles of rupees for a pair of armor sets.
Gloom-Borne Illness – Where to find Wild Greens
Claree will point you in the direction of her sister, Lasli. If you travel up the hill from the shop and hang a right down an alley, you’ll find her sitting in front of a cooking pot. Beyond her is their house, where their grandmother resides. Lasli talks about feeding her grandmother porridge in an effort to heal her. However, she bemoans that she can’t find a special ingredient (Wild Greens) that might counteract the gloom that is weakening her.
For more facts on porridge, you can check out our guide here. However, if you just want the rundown of what you have to do to cure the elderly and complete Gloom-Borne Illness, you need three things: Hylian Rice, Fresh Milk, and a Sundelion.
How to get the porridge ingredients
Rice is pretty easy to come by. If you’ve chopped through enough grass, you’ll have seen a bundle or two drop. However, if you’re a fan of rice balls and have eaten your stock, you can buy more in Hateno Village, along with Fresh Milk.
Hateno Village is the only place to reliably get Fresh Milk. You can trade for a bottle if you talk to the farmer at the Pasture for three acorns, or you can buy it at the general store. The general store also sells Hylian Rice, so that’s two of your ingredients right there.
To find Sundelions, they grow in most of the sky ruins. If you’re the type to just hoover every pickup that crosses your path, you probably already have plenty of them. Otherwise, you can always fast travel back there, as they are abundant.
This porridge is just right
Once you have your ingredients, drop them in a pot to make Sunny Veggie Porridge. Slam a dollop into grandma’s mouth (or just give it to Lasli), and she’ll feel heaps better instantly. We’re going to assume that it’s just that effective, and not that she was faking it for attention.
Completing the Gloom-Borne Illness quest will allow Lasli to follow her dreams to Hateno Village. Meanwhile, Claree will drop the cost of the Radiant Armor and Stealth Armor sets to a more reasonable (but still costly) price.
