Should you choose the Red Truth or the Blue Lie in Honkai: Star Rail?
To The Faint Star is a relatively early quest in Honkai: Star Rail. To unlock it, keep completing Trailblaze Missions to advance the main story. At a certain point, you’ll receive a text message from a researcher named Rocky. Clearly this message was intended for someone named Lesley, but that doesn’t mean you can’t insert yourself into this man’s love life. Especially when there are nice rewards for doing so!
Here’s how to clear To The Faint Star. It’s honestly straightforward, but you may get hung up on the choice at the end.
Find Rocky at the Herta Space Station
Right off the bat, make sure to set your active quest to To The Faint Star. Most of this quest simply involves traveling to the marked blue objective on your map, even if that involves a bit of fast traveling. To set this as your active quest, go to your Missions menu and select To The Faint Star. From there, select Navigate.
With that out of the way, travel to the Herta Space Station and talk with Rocky. Once you do, you’ll get some background information about this love story in peril. This includes some commentary from an older man named Bernard who appears to oppose Rocky’s romantic pursuits, which might be worth remembering. From here, you’ll need to warp to the Storage Zone to find the repeater.
Unfortunately, this step requires gathering a few parts to continue. Let’s keep following those blue markers.
Gather the old parts
Obtaining these parts involves going into a section of the Storage Bay that looks like a puzzle. Fortunately, this is an “Ages 3 and up” type of puzzle. Simply take the path to your left and interact with all the Control Devices along the way. This will naturally take you in a loop around the room that passes by both parts you need. That’s really all it takes!
With the parts in hand, return to the Galaxy Airwave Repeater and use the components. Read through the messages in front of you until you arrive at a couple gaps that cut out some important information. Someone was clearly responsible for this, but who? We’ll find out in this next step.
Defeat the miniboss in the monitoring room
Follow your blue marker again and you’ll quickly find yourself in a monitoring room. There’s a fierce level 13 monster here, and you’ll have to defeat it before you can go any further. The monster is weak to Physical, Ice and Quantum damage, so use a fitting character to get that first attack in. If you’re using the default heroes, your protagonist or March 7th will do the trick.
There’s not too much to say about the fight itself. This can be tricky if you’re underleveled, so make sure to boost your characters and Light Cones as close to level 20 as possible. If you can do more, great, but a balanced team shouldn’t require more than that. If you’re running low on leveling resources, consider using some Trailblaze Power.
After the fight concludes, review the security footage. You’ll see a few amusing scenes if you view all the options, but the most pertinent footage for us involves our old friend Bernard popping up. It’s time to confront him about the meaning of this.
Visit Bernard
Once again, follow the quest marker to the Master Control Zone. You’ll find Bernard very close to the Space Anchor you normally use to heal. Talk to him, and he’ll explain for you his reasoning for tampering with the message. To make a long story short, Rocky’s feelings aren’t one sided. However, where Lesley exists now features a completely different flow of time. By the time Lesley returns, Rocky may very well be the final years of his life.
Would it be better for Rocky to know the truth, even if he knows his romantic longings may never be fulfilled? Conversely, should you take Bernard’s approach to tamper with the truth, letting Rocky move on from this unfortunate tragedy? That is for you to decide.
What happens if you select the Red Truth or the Blue Lie in Honkai: Star Rail?
With two options in your hand to present to Rocky, you’ll need to make a choice to resolve this quest. Your rewards will remain the same either way, and this choice has no apparent long-term ramifications.
That said, if you feel invested in this story, it should be noted that the Red Truth doesn’t present as grim an outlook that Bernard fears it will. Rocky is a practical guy, and though his life’s path will change with this information, he will find meaning through it. If you want a romantic ending, give Rocky the Red Truth. Meanwhile, if you believe Rocky should prioritize his research, give him the Blue Lie. Again, either option resolves the quest with equal rewards. Do what helps you sleep better at night.
