Staggering is the key

Nazamil, the newest character in Tales of Arise – Beyond the Dawn, is a bit more formidable than we thought if her boss battles are anything to go by. Fortunately, we have some tips for besting her on the battlefield.

Tales of Arise – Beyond the Dawn is an expansion to the original 2021 RPG, a whole two years after its release. Over its 20-hour or so runtime, players return to Dahna in order to save Nazamil from herself. We fight the Renan/Dahnan child two times in the expansion, and this guide will cover each. Many of the tips transfer between each fight so if it worked the first time, it’ll help you the second.

First Fight – Lv. 84 Nazamil

Best Team: Alphen, Shionne, Rinwell, and Kisara

For this fight, it’s good to carry a few Gels with you (Orange should suffice), as you’ll need the CP for healing. Nazamil has some strong attacks and, if you’re not careful, you can get the brunt of it. Her attacks are more magic-based, so it’s best to have Alphen be more upfront. Shionne and Rinwell both excel at long-distance, so use them for leverage. Kisara can take a ton of blows, which will help in tough situations.

All of the team’s Boost Attacks have the ability to Boost Break Nazamil. The definite ones are Alphen and Rinwell. Rinwell’s Boost is especially important given Nazamil’s reliance on magic. When Nazamil is down, that’s the best time to attack. While it doesn’t last long, it’s enough to knock some HP off her. Her attacks do get stronger, so make sure to watch your health. If one of your party members is down, the best next person is Dohalim, as his magic and curing powers can come in handy.

It’s important to note that you aren’t supposed to win this fight. It’s unknown what factor triggers it, but after some time, Nazamil will unleash a devastating attack. This will best most of your party, but don’t heal them. A cutscene will come on and that will end the fight. For those who want to beat Nazamil, you’ll have to wait until the end of the game for another chance.

Second Fight – Lv. 90 Captive Nazamil

Best Team: Alphen, Shionne, Rinwell, and Kisara

Like the previous battle, your best bet is to maintain that same team. She’s a bit more powerful this time around, so it’s good to have members who can stagger her if need be. Shionne’s Boost Attack has a chance to interrupt her attacks, so use that if you have it available. The same can be said with Kisara, who I was able to stop some attacks with via her Boost Attack.

Regardless, it’s essential to dodge for movement instead of running. The screen can get a bit hectic and moves can blend into each other, so just be careful. For this battle, keep some health items on you, as Nazamil does unleash a huge move and summons Nether Nazamils. Deal with those the same way you did in the labyrinths and use Rinwell to stagger them and Alphen for damage.

Unlike the last fight with Nazamil, you have to get her down to zero HP. If you need help with damage, switch out Shionne with Law, as he can dish out a good amount. Again, if you’re down a healer, employ Dohalim. A cutscene will come on once you’ve dwindled her down on HP and the boss fight with the Oppressor will commence.
