The Hyena Pack are bosses that you’ll encounter during the Psamathe mission on Neptune. They aren’t the toughest foes in Warframe, but their pack tactics will definitely keep you on your toes.
There are a couple of things that make the Hyena pack stand out from other encounters in Warframe. They don’t have a dedicated arena – instead, they just load into a regular room on the tileset. It plays to their advantage as the room is full of nooks and crannies that the Hyenas can hide in. The Pack is also quick on their feet with the ability to crawl along the walls, so keeping up in tight quarters is a challenge.
The Pack is made up of four different Hyenas that all focus on particular elemental damage types. Hyena LN2 deals cold damage, while Ng deals heat. Their partners, Pb and Th, use electricity and magnetic damage, respectively. You won’t always have to contend with the entire Pack, though. If you run the mission solo, only two Hyenas spawn, while bringing a partner adds a third Hyena, and a party of three or more faces off against all four.
Now that you know what you’re getting yourself into, it’s time to talk strategy.
Hunting the Pack on Neptune
The hardest part about fighting the Hyena Pack is keeping up with their mobility. The Hyenas are incredibly fast, and they can jump extra high before clinging onto the walls to stay out of your reach. If Hyena LN2 spawns for the fight, the problem gets even more difficult because it can slow your movement with cold attacks, giving its partners more time to dance around. Keep an eye out for LN2 and avoid its attacks at all cost.
The best way to tackle the challenge is to reduce the total number of Hyenas you’re dealing with. That’s easier if you have a full party that can hammer on a single Hyena all at once, but even if you’re running the fight solo, you should pick a target and stick with it. The faster you bring down their numbers, the easier it is to follow the remaining bosses as they maneuver around the room.
Preparing for The Pack and possible rewards
It’s definitely possible to defeat the Hyenas using a melee weapon, but the battle will drag on longer as you have to constantly chase them around the room and jump to try and catch them on the walls, so it’s a good idea to grab your favorite ranged weapon. Any weapon mods that let you deal Radiation damage will be especially effective against the Hyenas’ Robotic and Alloy Armor health. Otherwise, their Proto Shields are particularly weak against Magnetic damage.
That’s about all there is to this boss battle. Load up with your best ranged weapon, avoid any slowing cold attacks, and focus on a single Hyena at a time. The Pack has a roughly 30% chance to drop Loki Warframe blueprints, so after you master the fight, you should be able to craft all of Loki’s components in no time.
