Every Faction in XDefiant has unique abilities that set them apart. The DedSec faction was designed to mess with the enemy team by disrupting and taking control of their devices. Hijack is a powerful ability as it allows players to gain the power to hack enemy abilities and gain control of them. However, most players use Spiderbot as it’s a robot that chases after the nearest enemy, latches onto their face, and stuns them.

Most XDefiant players can at least recall one time when they fell victim to this ability, and there aren’t many ways to counter it. However, there are a few options available so not all hope is lost.

XDefiant Updates posted a clip on Twitter of a player getting attacked by a Spiderbot and voiced their displeasure with the ability. A player claimed that they were able to punch a Spiderbot in mid-air to destroy it one time, but it didn’t work again.

XDefiant executive producer Mark Rubin confirmed that this is a bug and players should be able to punch Spiderbots. In the meantime, the only two ways to counter the ability are to either shoot them, which is extremely difficult, or to aim down when it’s on your face and shoot. Both options aren’t the best in terms of staying focused on your surroundings, but for now it’s the only chance we have at countering the ability.
