How to Dig for something blue in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Hi ho, hi ho, it’s off to work we go

Disney Dreamlight Valley is no stranger to quest names or duties written in the form of a riddle. “Dig for something blue” is one such duty in the Lovely Monster Star Path, introduced with the February 28 update. But what does it mean?

You’d be forgiven for thinking that digging for blue would involve your shovel, but it doesn’t. Rather than heading out with your shovel in hand, hoping to strike it lucky, pick up your pickaxe instead.

If this is one of your Star Path duties, you need to mine for blue gems. These can be found in a few biomes and it doesn’t matter whether you get a regular gem or a shiny gem; as long as it’s blue, it counts.

By far the quickest way to complete this duty is by heading into the Vitalys Mines and mining all the rocks found there. Most of these will provide you with Vitalys Crystals, and some of them will give you Sapphires, as well.

It’s always a good idea to take a mining buddy with you, though any blue gems that they drop will not count towards the duty total. However, if you happen to also have the ‘Spend time with some classic friends’ duty and one of them is set as a mining buddy, you can kill two birds with one stone this way.

The Scream Canister currency that you earn from completing this duty can be exchanged for items on the Star Path, including Boo’s A-door-able Jacket, various pieces of clothing for your character or motifs which can be used in designing your own custom items.

To spend your Scream Canisters, press P and select the Rewards option on the left side of the screen. Here, you’ll have a large number of items to choose from, but you’ll need to buy at least three items from one page before you can buy any from the next one.

Each item has an associated cost, so you’ll need to grind through some duties if you want to unlock everything, as duties reward either 5 or 10 Scream Canisters per duty completed.
