Equipping two primary weapons in Call of Duty has been around for a long time. However, the way you do it has changed multiple times. In Modern Warfare 3, it no longer involves equipping the correct perk in your create-a-class section. Here’s how to equip two primary weapons in MW3.
Equipping two primary weapons at once in MW3
Yes, it is still possible to equip two primary weapons in the latest iteration of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3. However, you no longer simply equip the Overkill perk and be on your way. Now, you’ve got to choose the correct vest, either the Gunner Vest or Overkill Vest.
The former allows you to hold two primary weapons at the same time, lets you start each match with max ammo, and improves reload speed. So there’s a few other reasons to equip the Gunner Vest other than just getting a good secondary.
Next, the Overkill Vest has its own set of unique abilities. In addition to a second primary weapon, you’ll get increased weapon swap speed and the ability to reload while sprinting. Both can come in handy, especially if you’re using two weighty guns, like LMGs that might take a few seconds to swap.
How to get the Gunner and Overkill vests
Fortunately, unlocking the Gunner and Overkill vests and the ability to carry two primary weapons requires no extra effort whatsoever. Simply play the game and each will unlock eventually.
- Gunner Vest – Unlocked by reaching player level 20
- Overkill Vest – Unlocked by reaching player level 50
Either option will get you your second primary weapon. Whether it’s to complete a challenge or just have a better backup option than a pistol, these vests are the key. Choosing which is better for you depends on the other affects they have, so the choice is yours.
