How to find Mulan’s Key in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Get a cool sword and two new friends.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Mulan's key chest

At the end of Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Mulan Realm questline, you’ll place down Mulan and Mushu’s house before returning to the realm, talking to Mushu and looking for a key. Mulan’s key opens a storage chest with a special surprise inside, making it worthwhile to collect if you want to finish the Clearing the Road quest and invite Mushu to your village.

Mulan’s Key location in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Mulan’s key is on the far side of the realm’s clearing, past the area where you planted trees during the previous quest. You’ll spot the golden key on the ground near three carts blocking a pathway, which you can pick up without any issues.

If you’re starting from the camp, head out of the exit near the cauldron before following the dirt path forward. Eventually, you’ll spot these carts and the key on the ground. It’s within some tufts of grass, so look carefully in this area for the key’s golden appearance and sparkles hovering around it.

Once you pick up the key, return to Mushu to advance through the Clearing the Road quest. He’ll show you where the storage chest is, allowing you to open it and claim Mulan’s surprise gift. Upon opening it, you’ll find the Defender’s Sword wall decoration to use in your house.

Don’t worry if you open the chest before talking to Mushu. If you run right to the storage chest without talking to him beforehand, he’ll run to the chest and initiate the task of opening it. Fortunately, you won’t get locked out of the quest; just open it a second time to proceed as normal. After claiming the Defender’s Sword, talk to Mushu about returning to Dreamlight Valley to officially invite him to the village.
