It’s a great time to be an ARPG fan, especially with Last Epoch 1.0 releasing today. However, with so many players giving the full release a try, servers have become quite overloaded resulting in a variety of errors. One such current error is Online Play Unavailable. Here is how to fix Last Epoch Online Play Unavailable error and what seems to be causing it.
What causes Online Play Unavailable error on Last Epoch and LE-61 error?
As of February 21, the day Last Epoch 1.0 released, most players are receiving this error. Unfortunately, it’s due to the Last Epoch servers being congested due to the number of people trying to connect at once. The same is the case for those receiving the Failed to Matchmake error.
With this specific scenario, the only way how to fix Last Epoch Online Play Unavailable error is to wait for the Last Epoch servers to stabilize and not be so congested. Developer Eleventh Hour Games has already confirmed the issue, stating that the game has seen 150,000 concurrent players which has overwhelmed the matchmaking servers.
As of 5:25 p.m. EST, Eleventh Hour Games has confirmed that some progress has been made to improve stability on the servers backend, but that some players are still getting the Online Play Unavailable and LE-61 error. It’s likely this will persist for a little while until everyone gradually gets into the Last Epoch.
Other Possible Fixes, and how to check Last Epoch server status
When the servers are working correctly and not overloaded, there are some potential fixes. Once the servers are stabilized if you’re still receiving the Online Play Unavailable error, try these fixes:
- Confirm the servers are online — Eleventh Hour Games may bring the servers down for maintenance, especially immediately following Last Epoch’s release. The best way to keep up to date with the server status is via the Last Epoch Twitter and Discord.
- Update Last Epoch — Double-check that you’re on the latest version of the game. The best way to do this with Last Epoch is to close the game and relaunch it through Steam. If there is an update, it will download it.
- Make sure you have a stable internet connection — Check to make sure your ISP isn’t undergoing maintenance or having downtime. If you are connected wirelessly, consider connecting to your internet directly via a wired connection as it’s much more stable.
That’s all the currently known ways how to fix Last Epoch Online Play Unavailable error. You can also try simply waiting a little bit and trying again later. As the servers let more people in, it will free up the login servers and thus lower the amount of people getting the error.
