Detrick is here to fix the servers
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 have some strange error names. If you ever run into an issue in one of these games, there’s a strong chance that the error you receive will have a name that is similar to a real person’s name, such as the common Detrick Guernsey error code. If you encounter problems with this one, here’s what you need to do.
Detrick Guernsey MW2 error code, explained
The Detrick Guernsey MW2 error is one that typically happens when a player boots up and logs into the game. As the game tries to connect to the online servers for multiplayer, you’ll receive the Detrick Guernsey error code message.
The message states the following:
- Connection Failed: Login servers are currently undergoing maintenance.
As you can see in the message, you generally get this issue when maintenance is happening to the online servers. Though it is quite rare to see massive games like Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 go offline for maintenance, it does occasionally happen.
This is especially prevalent in the case of an impending new season or Battle Pass, which requires the games to go offline to apply the new patch version. There is also the off-chance that the games have to be taken down for emergency reasons, but that is quite rare.
How to fix the Detrick Guernsey error in MW2
Heads up! We have some scheduled maintenance for 30 min tomorrow, May 3rd, between the window of 2 AM to 4 AM PT, that will prevent players from logging into Call of Duty titles.

For better or worse, the Detrick Guernsey error in MW2 is pretty much out of your control. There is nothing inherently wrong with your internet or game version, but it has to do with whatever Activision and Infinity Ward need to take care of on the backend of the servers.
As such, the unfortunate part about this error code is that there isn’t much you can do to fix it. If you ever receive this error, I suggest checking out the Infinity Ward Twitter account to see if there has been an announcement about sudden maintenance.
Also, be sure to check Down Detector and see if other players are experiencing the same issue. If you find that, somehow, you are pretty alone in this problem, be sure to take a screenshot of the error message and submit a ticket to Activision Support.
In the meantime, while you wait for maintenance to complete, you can still play the game offline. You’ll only have access to the single-player campaign and some offline multiplayer modes, such as Search & Destroy and Kill Confirmed, but at least you have the chance to customize your loadouts and practice with weapons you might not be familiar with.
