Who goes there?!
Since the release of Destiny 2: Lightfall on February 28, some players have been experiencing a disorienting and confusing glitch in the game. The space-shooter is becoming frustrating for many players as they attempt to complete a mission, whether that be the new Lightfall campaign, the secret Exotic mission for the Vexcalibur glaive, or the weekly story content. When this glitch happens, Guardians can easily see their surroundings and fire team members, but their own character model appears completely invisible, including their weapons and even the reticule. This can make the game unplayable.
As captured by Twitter user zaeralynn, some players have even reported that every Guardian is invisible to them, particularly when this problem occurs in Crucible matches. Personally, this glitch happened to me in the final fight of the Lightfall campaign and in such a high-stakes scenario it was hugely disappointing. Being so close to the end of the legendary difficulty campaign, it was imperative to find a fix and quickly.
Why does it happen?
Glad to know the invisible player bug in Destiny isn't just happening to me. Requires a restart to fix. I had it during PvP as well, so I was kind of useless. You also have no ADS reticle when it happens. 🥴 pic.twitter.com/7F5TK8NV7t

Bungie has said that this invisible player glitch can happen after “repeated interactions with the post-activity Commendations screen”. If you’re looking to avoid the glitch entirely, you can stay well away from the Commendations screen in an attempt to prevent it from happening. If you are seeking to level up to the next Guardian rank though, you’ll know that you need a score of 750 Commendations to do so, so avoiding it entirely won’t be the best solution for everyone.
How to fix the invisible player glitch
Unfortunately, it seems that so far the invisible player glitch can only be fixed by restarting the game. If you’re in the middle of a mission or campaign, you can either attempt to continue blindly or quit and restart the game before jumping back in, hopefully to a nearby checkpoint. The good news is that Bungie has said that it is aware of the glitch and is working on a fix.
