Astegon is a nocturnal Dragon and Dark dual type Pal with hard hitting active skills and a frankly terrifying appearance. The Paldeck description for Astegon warns to neither stand before nor heed the beast, so if you love Dark pals, this one’s as dark as it gets.
Boasting a level 4 Mining skill, Astegon doesn’t even necessarily have to be in your party to be a benefit. At base, the Pal quickly gathers up whatever rocky resource you need. However, for gathering Ore outside your base, Astegon’s Black Anklyosaur Partner Skill increases damage done to Ore while mounted.
Speaking of using Astegon as a mount, it’s not the fastest flying mount out there with its 800 speed stat, but benefits from a much higher than average stamina of 300. However, the Astegon Saddle from the Technology Ladder doesn’t unlock until level 47.
Where to find Astegon in the wild
There are two options if you want to capture a wild Astegon, both of which have their own distinct challenges.
Mount Obsidian Midpoint
Your first option is to make your way to the Mount Obsidian Midpoint fast travel point and battle the level 48 Alpha Astegon in the Mineshaft, marked with an X on the image above, directly west of there. Obviously this is very much something you should do when you are deep into the game and have unlocked plenty of weapons, ammunition, and strong Ice type Pals, as they’re strong against Dragon types.
Wildlife Sanctuary 3
Your alternate option for capturing a wild Astegon comes with a distinct risk of gaining a Wanted Level, but it is much easier as long as you have a flying mount. Head to Wildlife Sanctuary 3, located directly East of the Deep Sand Dunes fast travel point and circled in the image above, during the night and you’ll find some slightly lower level wild Astegon’s roaming the Sanctuary.
How to breed Astegon
If you’d rather breed Astegon, there are a few Pal pairs that yield a successful hatch. While these breeding pairs still require some higher level Pals to execute, a lot of them can be hatched from other breeding pairs or found in wild Eggs.
Here’s a few of the slightly easier couples to manage:
- Suzaku Aqua + Relaxaurus
- Lyleen + Suzaku
- Grizzbolt + Cryolinx
- Blazamut + Elizabee
- Helzephyr + Orzerk
