Fertilizer is one of the most important items in LEGO Fortnite for players who want to access the deep farming system to make their own food. But before you can do that, you’ll need to get some fertilizer in LEGO Fortnite.
How to get fertilizer: Animals
There are two main ways to get fertilizer in LEGO Fortnite, and the first one is certainly the messiest. The initial way is to go straight to the source and start collecting this material from the various critters you come across in your world. There are a few different types of animals, which drop fertilizer, including ones like sheep and cows.
Both of these types of animals spawn near where you start the game, so they can be easily accessed. When you find a cow or sheep, use the standard interact button (Square on PlayStation, X on Xbox, etc) to pet the animal. Petting the animal will then get it to drop you some goodies in exchange for the kind gesture.
Unfortunately, these items can be a bit random. Cows might give you milk, sheep might give you wool, and sometimes you’ll get fertilizer as well. Fortunately, you can pet animals every five minutes or so for items. Cows are by far the preferred animal since they are quite friendly and won’t be prone to run away from you like the sheep do.
Fellow villagers
The second method to get fertilizer is to have your villagers chip and help out. Once you recruit a villager by giving them a bed of their own, you can send them out on jobs. These jobs can be to farm for resources in the nearby area, which often includes fertilizer. They gather materials quite fast this way, so you can stock up on the valuable item often enough.
If you have more than one villager out on a job, this will make the process even faster and easier. You can stock up on these items by talking with the person every few minutes to gather whatever materials they have found.
Treasure Chests
The third and final way to get fertilizer in LEGO Fortnite is to find the treasure chests and loot llamas that exist randomly in the world. These are entirely luck-based, so it is by far the least reliable way to get fertilizer. You want to look for the rainbow butterflies that randomly appear in your server.
Follow these butterflies and they will eventually lead you to a treasure chest or loot llama. I have found fertilizer in these special containers before, but it is impossible to guarantee it will appear there since there are many possible freebies. The positive side of this wonky method is if you do happen to find some fertilizer this way, it is usually in great supply. I have found around half-a-dozen smelly fertilizer pieces in a chest before.
What to use fertilizer for in LEGO Fortnite
Fertilizer is an item you use on garden plots of soil you have placed in the ground. The fertilizer helps the seeds you are trying to grow quicken their pace and turn into edible crops like wheat, pumpkin, snowberry, corn, spicy pepper, and more.
It is an essential item for creating a self-sufficient farm life in LEGO Fortnite where you don’t have to scavenge for raspberries and other food items in the nearby bushes every few seconds to avoid dying from hunger.
