There are a lot of things to collect and gather in Stardew Valley, with some being harder to find than others. One of these items, the Frozen Tear, can be a little elusive. It has many uses, including as a loved gift or part of a bundle, so let’s look at how to get one.
How to get a Frozen Tear in Stardew Valley
Whether you’re looking to woo Sebastian or want to craft a certain ring, you’ll need Frozen Tears in Stardew Valley. There’s a few ways to get them, but sadly few of them are guaranteed. You’ll likely find a Frozen Tear laying on the floor when traversing the mines, between floors 40 and 79. Additionally, if you have the Statue of Endless Fortune, it’s guaranteed to give you a Frozen Tear once per year on Winter 10, in honor of Sebastian’s birthday.
Here are the other ways you can get a Frozen Tear in Stardew Valley:
- Slaying Dust Sprites within the Mines
- In containers between floors 40 and 79 of the Mines, if you’ve previously reached the bottom
- Inside Frozen Geodes
- Inside Omni Geodes
- Inside Fishing Treasure Chests
- In garbage cans after you’ve reached the bottom of the Mines
- An Ice Pip Fish Pond may produce 5 Frozen Tears after the population has reached 9
- The Wizard can send you a Frozen Tear through the mail
How to use a Frozen Tear in Stardew Valley
Frozen Tears aren’t worth the most, but they do sell for between 75 Gold and 97 Gold (depending on whether you chose the Gemologist profession when you hit level 5 in Mining). Other than that, there are a few different ways to use Frozen Tears in Stardew Valley, so you might need to stock up on them as you find them to do everything possible.
Gifting a Frozen Tear
Frozen Tears are on the list of Sebastian’s loved gifts, but most villagers like to receive them. Only the following three Villagers dislike receiving a Frozen Tear as a gift:
- Leah
- Linus
- Pierre
Bundles using a Frozen Tear
One Frozen Tear is required as part of the Geologist’s Bundle in the Boiler Room as part of the Community Center.
Quests requiring Frozen Tears
Occasionally, a Frozen Tear can be requested by someone on the ‘Help Wanted’ Board outside Pierre’s General Store, but the main quests involving Frozen Tears are Fish Pond Related.
- To increase the capacity of a Blobfish Pond from one to three, 2 Frozen Tears may be requested
- To increase the capacity of an Ice Pip Pond from three to five, 5 Frozen Tears may be requested
Crafting with a Frozen Tear
Frozen Tears are required to craft the Warrior Ring, which occasionally infuses the wearer with “warrior energy” after successfully slaying a monster. To make this, you’ll need:
- 10 Iron Bars
- 25 Coal
- 10 Frozen Tears
Tailoring with Frozen Tears
A Frozen Tear can be used in the spool of a Sewing Machine to create a Dark Jacket, or otherwise works as a cyan dye when a dyeable item is placed within the feed of the Sewing Machine. It works as the same color dye when placed into the Dye Pots in Emily and Haley’s house.
