How to get Meowmere in Stardew Valley

A little bit of Terraria in Stardew Valley

Meowmere in Stardew Valley

For Stardew Valley players who are also fans of Terraria, there’s a particularly lovely and not-at-all subtle nod to the game that has been added to Stardew Valley with the 1.6 update. It’s remarkably simple to get, too, as long as you’ve met a few requirements. Here’s how to get Meowmere in Stardew Valley.

In Terraria, the Meowmere is an incredibly strong melee weapon that is only obtainable deep into the game once you’ve overcome the Moon Lord. When swung, it shoots a cat-shaped projectile, which leaves a rainbow trail. Essentially, the sword summons Nyan Cat.

Admittedly, its stats are less impressive in Stardew Valley, but it is a level 4 sword and it’s definitely an item that will bring you some bragging rights and it’s adorable to boot.

Preparing to get Meowmere in Stardew Valley

There are three things you’ll need to do before you can actually go and get Meowmere:

Befriend M. Rasmodius

Before you can even think about getting Meowmere, you need to increase your friendship with the Wizard to four hearts. To do this, visit him daily in his Tower and have a little chat, plus bring him his favorite gifts:

  • All universally loved gifts
  • Purple Mushroom
  • Solar Essence
  • Super Cucumber
  • Void Essence

Once you’ve done this, you’ll have access to his basement. You get there by going through a little trapdoor in his bedroom and down there you can also change your appearance, as well as the appearance of your pet, using the Shrine of Illusions.

Find an Ancient Doll

This is the only part of this process that might trip you up because it’s entirely down to RNG.

There are a few ways to find an Ancient Doll, the first of which is by digging up Artifact Spots (those spots with the wiggling worms in them) in the following areas, using your Hoe:

  • The Mountain
  • Cindersap Forest
  • Bus Stop
  • Pelican Town

You can also get an Ancient Doll from Fishing Treasure Chests or Artifact Troves, and you could potentially receive one as a gift from Jas, Leo, or Vincent during the Feast of the Winter Star.

This one’s pretty self-explanatory, but I would recommend taking plenty of food with you and making sure that you’re not in the Mines when the clock ticks over to 2AM. This might take a while to achieve, but once you’re there you can move on to actually getting your hands on Meowmere.

Once you’ve done the aforementioned three things, the process to get Meowmere is remarkably simple.

Take the Ancient Doll down to floor 100 of the Mines and throw it into the Lava. You’ll see a snake jump out and in return for the now lost forever Ancient Doll, you’ll get the Far Away Stone.

Take the Far Away Stone to the Wizard’s Tower and head down into the basement. Once there, go to the far Right side of the room and place the Stone onto the plant pedestal there. This will open a portal through which a Cat will enter, giving you Meowmere.

A word of warning: The Wizard won’t be happy with you for what you’ve done.
