How to get more arc energy in Warcraft Rumble, and where to spend it

It’s tempting to spend it all early, but you’ll need a ton later on

Warcraft Rumble has a few stingy game systems: arc energy included. Here’s how to earn as much as possible without pricing yourself out of the arc economy.

What does arc energy do?

Arc energy is a currency that is used for upgrading your mini rarity (which in turn provides a useful bonus level instantly, and unlocks the ability to take another upgrade for 250 gold on the G.R.I.D., which provides yet another bonus level).

Your total supply of arc energy is located on the top-right-hand side of the menu screen and is denoted by a blue lightning bolt symbol (pictured above).

How do you get more arc energy in Warcraft Rumble?

You will earn arc energy just by playing the game, but your main source of arc income will be through dungeons. While it’s advantageous to farm up dungeons for each leader until you have every gold slot unlocked (which will provide level bonuses for every unit in your army), you’ll want to stop after that point and farm arc energy on a weekly basis. That exact point is level 23.

Make sure that you clear the first two levels of a dungeon, then stop the run. While you’re on the third map, go up to the pause menu at the top of the screen, and abandon the mission. Then, on the next screen, abandon the dungeon entirely, and repeat that process for every other leader that week. If you clear that third dungeon level, you’ll potentially permanently over-level the dungeon.

While it seems counterintuitive, you will want to keep all of your leaders at the appropriate dungeon level where you can consistently clear it without too much trouble. In other words, you don’t want to clear dungeons so much that the AI is over-leveled, and you can’t clear them anymore. At that point, you won’t be able to consistently earn arc energy easily.

You can also exchange gold (in-game currency) for arc energy at the rate of 1000 per 100 200 gold, but this is a slow-going process that also cuts into your ability to upgrade your unit rarity through the G.R.I.D.

Arc is occasionally provided in cash money bundles too: but some offers are generally low quality, and many free-to-play players will not want to go that route.

Save your arc energy, and only spend it on units you know you will actively use

Here are the costs associated with arc energy rarity upgrades as a reference:

  • Uncommon – 500 arc energy
  • Rare – 2000 arc energy
  • Epic – 8000 arc energy
  • Legendary – 20,000 arc energy (!)

One thing to keep in mind is that arc energy will flow heavily early on, but you will need thousands (if not tens of thousands) of it to actively level up a unit to legendary status. You don’t need to spend arc energy willy-nilly early in the game: take it slow, figure out which units you want to upgrade, and focus on them.

The same principle goes for constantly “re-rolling” the bottom bonus level rows for each leader. Try and come up with a loadout that works, and stick to it. Having dedicated PVE and PVP leaders can help you avoid having to constantly re-roll depending on the situation.
