How to get more Platinum in Warframe

Oh to be a space age speculator…

Digital Extremes’s Warframe really is free-to-play without being pay-to-win, but that doesn’t mean you should ignore the game’s premium currency. Platinum is your key to a whole slew of in-game features like renaming characters and clans, trading with other players, speeding up crafting, and those sweet, sweet cosmetics.

Getting more Platinum is actually pretty straightforward. That said, it’s easy to get lost amidst the game’s deluge of currencies, materials, and assorted time sinks. The simplest way to get Platinum is to pay for it directly. Pull open the game menu and head over to the Market. Open the drop-down menu, find the “Get Platinum” tab, and you’re good to go. You can also purchase packs of Platinum on the Warframe website.

There’s good news and bad news for players who aren’t looking to shell out real cash for Platinum. The good news is that it’s possible and relatively easy. The bad news is that it means grinding and engaging with another one of the game’s somewhat confusing mechanics: the trading system.

Trading for Platinum

Warframe players can trade all sorts of in-game items, and the standard currency for trading is Platinum. First, you’ll need to actually unlock the ability to trade items by enabling two-factor authentication on your account and reaching Mastery Rank 2. After that, your amount of daily trades will be limited by both your Mastery Rank and your credits – because you will need to spend some of that free in-game currency to facilitate your trades.

There are two places you can trade items in the game. The first is at a Clan Trading Kiosk. Those can be found at Clan Dojos, but naturally you’ll have to join a clan before gaining access to those. If you haven’t joined a clan yet, you can go to Maroo’s Bazaar on Mars to get your speculative investing underway. You can trade almost anything in Warframe. Certain Relics can fetch a decent price, but Arcanes, mods, and even weapons are all on the table. There’s an entire website dedicated to tracking the Warframe market, so you can always make sure you’re getting a fair amount of Platinum for your goods.
