Tar is one of the early resources you will come across in Enshrouded. It doesn’t have a ton of uses early game and can be a bit tricky to find. However, once you know how to create it yourself, it becomes easier to come by. Here is how to get Tar in Enshrouded very quickly and easily.
Best way to get Tar in Enshrouded
Even though you can find Tar randomly stashed around areas throughout Enshrouded, there’s actually a very easy way to create it yourself. To get lots of easy Tar in Enshrouded, just overcook your food. If you bring food to a Stone Fireplace and start to cook it, keep cooking it after it is already grilled. It will continue to cook until you ruin it, which will then turn it into Tar.
In my opinion, this is the fastest surefire way to get Tar, because it’s guaranteed to turn into Tar every time you overcook it. However, make sure you have lots of food to cook as you only get 1 Tar each time!
What is Tar used for?
So far I’ve only found a couple of uses for Tar, both of which are related to building. It’s quite possible Tar has more of a use later in Enshrouded, but early on here are the only two uses I found:
100 Tarred Wood Block
- 10 Wood Logs
- 5 Tar
This is a building block from which you can build foundations, walls, stairs, wall frames, and window frames. It has a darker wood look from Tar being rubbed over the Wood.
50 Tarred Shingle Roof Block
- 5 Wood Logs
- 5 Tar
This is a roof-building block from which you can build the various roofing options for your building. It also has a darker wood look from Tar being rubbed over the Wood.
