While Diablo 4‘s seasonal progression model may not be everyone’s cup of tea, Blizzard has certainly found an audience for the game’s post-launch content. Season 2 – the Season of Blood – has specifically afforded players vampiric powers and gear, with the Tears of Blood Glyph being a particularly important highlight.
What does the Tears of Blood Glyph do?
Glyphs are, broadly, passive buffs that players insert into their characters’ Paragon Boards. Doing so provides a variety of unique bonuses. In the case of Tears of Blood, specifically, the Glyph provides a hefty damage output bonus that scales with Core stat bonus purchases within its range on the Paragon Board. Here are its default stats:
- Tears of Blood Glyph
- Unique rarity item
- For every 5 Core Stats purchased within range, you gain +[2]% increased damage.
- Bonus: Grants +50% bonus to all Rare nodes within range. Bonus increases by 10% every 10 levels.
Of course, the Tears of Blood Glyph won’t be available in Diablo 4 indefinitely. As this Glyph is a feature of the Season of Blood, which wraps up on January 23, 2024, you’ve got until then to farm it out and upgrade it, if possible. It’s a bit of FOMO, for sure, but such is the nature of live-service gaming. Oh, and while you’re at it, don’t forget to participate in Diablo 4‘s Midwinter Blight event, either.
Diablo 4 Season 2: getting the Tears of Blood Glyph
Fair warning: getting the Tears of Blood Glyph is no mean feat. You’ll need plenty of resources and a solid character build to complete its dungeon and kill the boss that has the Glyph, so expect this to take a bit of time if you’re a newcomer to Diablo 4. Here are the two hard requirements to even get started with the quest and access the ominous-sounding Abattoir of Zir:
- Reach level 100 with your participating character.
- Start your Season 2 Journey and complete all seven stages of it.
It’s not impossible to get this over with in relatively short order, but the requirements do illustrate the sort of dedication you’ll need to reach the Abbatoir of Zir. Once your seasonal Journey is wrapped up, and your character is at level 100, it’s time to move to the next step of the process:
- Visit the Occultist and craft the Bloodforged Sigil (60,000 Gold, 800 Sigil Power).
- Visit the city of Ked Baru and enter the Blood Portal to enter the Abattoir of Zir.
Upon entering the Blood Portal, you’ll need to quickly deal with all the threats present in the dungeon. The reward for your troubles is the NMD Upgrade Totem (to upgrade your Glyphs), the Bloodforged Sigil recipe, and the Tears of Blood Glyph.
How to upgrade the Tears of Blood Glyph?
The reason why Tears of Blood is so powerful and popular is that it can be upgraded all the way up to level 200, and the process of doing so is simple: keep playing the Abattoir of Zir dungeon. Upgrading Tears of Blood incurs bonuses to the Glyph’s Core Stat damage increase and the range of its bonus passive effect.
Getting the Tears of Blood Glyph to as high a level as possible will make it easier to engage with Diablo 4‘s Season 2 content, which obviously makes this the way to go if you’re looking to truly optimize your character for the season.
