Even though Shaders are the bread and butter of most players’ customization options and preferences in Destiny 2, Mementos have been in the limelight more as of late. In fact, Destiny 2‘s 2023 Dawning event comes with its own unique Memento, and it’s cool as a cucumber.
Naturally, the Dawning memento isn’t quite as striking as the sweet blackout Festival of the Lost Memento from earlier this year. Still, we appear to be getting a selection of icy, glacial textures plastered on top of weapons, with some gunmetal black details to really bring the look together.
Unlocking Destiny 2’s Dawning Memento
The unique Dawning Memento will be available as part of one of Destiny 2 Dawning 2023’s new quests, according to Bungie. Dawning 2023 is going live on December 12, following the weekly reset, and after the event rollout (and potential downtime) is all wrapped up, players will be able to take the Winter Night quest from Eva Levante, the event vendor, to unlock the Memento.
Presumably, Bungie’s got a bit of a grind ahead of the players, as Mementos are not easily accessible across the board. More details as to what, exactly, the Winter Night questline is all about will be available after December 12. The obvious expectation, however, is that we may be looking at lots and lots of cookie baking, as per usual, for Dawning festivities.
Do note that Mementos are one-time use items that can only be applied to crafted Legendary weapons. Thankfully, there will be a way to get some Dawning Memento extras after the Winter Night quest is done: players need to open A Gift in Return items, available via Eva Levante, to get additional Mementos.
We’ll have more details on the accessibility and snazziness factor of the Dawning Memento after the Dawning event goes live, but in the time interim, Bungie’s featured pic serves as a reasonably decent showcase.
