As though we didn’t already have a giant book filled with Blueprints, Sons of the Forest 1.0 brought us some more and one of them, if you’re a fan of the Glider, is particularly useful.
If you’ve mastered Gliding in Sons of the Forest, first of all, I envy you because the skill seems to elude me. Second, you’ll now want the Glider Launcher to give you a boost from anywhere on the island. Here’s how to get it.
Where to find the Glider Launcher Blueprint
The Blueprint for the Glider Launcher is surprisingly easy to find, and rather than having to go look for it, I found it by accident while exploring.
You’ll want to head to the location marked above and find the mini-cave there. Unlike the caves that we’ve become accustomed to in Sons of the Forest, these mini-caves have no hole to squeeze through, but they do have planks to break down before you can make your way inside.
Once you’re inside, head towards the back of the cave and to the right of the incline on the left-hand side of the cave. At the very back of the cave, alongside a pile of bones, you’ll find the Glider Launcher Blueprint lying on the ground.
How to build and use the Glider Launcher
Once you’ve got the Blueprint, you’ll want to find a suitable location to build your first Launcher. Invariably, the first of these will be put onto your base, but make sure to pick a fairly open spot where you’re not going to be launched face-first into the trees above you. Trust me, that hurts. A lot.
Here’s what you’ll need to build a Glider Launcher:
- 4 Wire
- 4 Turtle Shells
- 14 Sticks
- 14 Logs
The hardest thing to find here will be the Turtle Shells, but thanks to some tweaks implemented with 1.0, Turtles now spawn more often, and if you head down to the Beach, you should find them without much trouble. If you do struggle to source them, as long as you’re playing on a Multiplayer server, you can use the console command “spawnitem turtleshell” in order to obtain them.
In order to get a hefty boost for gliding, all you need to do is equip your Glider and then jump in the middle of the four Turtle Shells. Please remember to equip your Glider – failing to do so is not a mistake you want to make. Let’s just say I experimented ‘for science’… It’s less embarrassing for me that way.
