How to get the Iron Pipe in Tales of Arise – Beyond the Dawn

And what good does it do for you?

Bandai Namco’s Tales of Arise – Beyond the Dawn Expansion has a neat callback to the base game with one of its weapons. Alphen’s Iron Pipe makes a return and players can use it to fight and create a powerful weapon, but you need to unlock it first.

What is the Iron Pipe?

The Iron Pipe is a weapon gifted to Alphen by the Wonder Bard in Tales of Arise. In the mission “Mysterious Pairs”, you need to find a legendary instrument of the Wonder Bard and return it to him in Niez. As a reward, you’ll receive the Iron Pipe.

You may notice that it is, in fact, an iron pipe, and a weak one at that. With 15 Attack, Elemental Attack, and Penetration, it’s the worst weapon Alphen can equip. However, the Iron Pipe comes with a gigantic upside: it’s needed to craft the Realm Unifier, the second-best weapon in the base game. It’s well worth the effort to get that colorful bard his instrument. Similarly, Beyond the Dawn has the Iron Pipe, but you need to unlock it in a different way.

In Beyond the Dawn, you can find the Iron Pipe as a reward for the Realm Unifier Solo Challenge at the Colosseum. The Colosseum is located in Viscint in Elde Menancia on the right side of the palace. This is an Alphen-only challenge, so no other party members are with you. In order to win the challenge, you need to beat it in under eight minutes.

Make sure you’re good on health and AP, as enemies aren’t going to be easy on you. If you manage to beat the challenge under the time limit, you’ll receive the Iron Pipe alongside four Ominous Eyeballs, two Cursed Claws, and two Blistering Fangs. Go to a vendor after and you’ll be able to craft the Realm Unifier for Alphen.

Tales of Arise and its expansion Beyond the Dawn are available for purchase on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
