The FFXIV Rising Phoenix mount is a new fan-favorite, available to players completing its celebratory rebirth festival in 2023. Every year, the MMO celebrates its rebirth as 2.0, and pays tribute to the sacrifices made during the realm’s Seventh Umbral Calamity.
This year, it’s an extra special festival as we celebrate a decade of adventures with The Rising 2023. You may be too late to snag the Moonfire Faire goodies, so don’t miss out on the FFXIV Rising Phoenix mount, too.
How to get the FFXIV Rising Phoenix Mount
The latest FFXIV seasonal event adds a familiar phoenix to mount collections. To get the Rising Phoenix mount, you’ll need to complete both quests (Siblings Rising and What Drives Us) in this year’s event. We’ll explain both quests in-depth below, along with what other rewards you’ll get for finishing this anniversary tribute up.
The last cutscene rewards the Rising Phoenix whistle, unlocking the mount upon use. Remember, this is a limited-time quest, so you won’t have long. FFXIV The Rising 2023 begins today, August 27, and ends when Patch 6.5 launches.
Where to begin FFXIV The Rising 2023
- Speak to Kipih Jakkya (Ul’dah – X:10.1, Y:8.6)
- Agree to help find her brother to begin Siblings Rising
- Gather information from all three NPCs in Ul’dah
- Speak with the Wandering Minstrel (Ul’dah – Steps of Thal X:11.3, Y:11.4 )
- Find Kupih Jakkya again (Ul’dah – Steps of Nald X:11.1, Y:9.0 )
- Teleport to Black Brush Station to follow her
Speaking to Kupih Jakkya here triggers a brief cutscene with Nhagi’a Jakkya, her brother. If you remember, he’s the same adventurer from The Rising 2022, who your Warrior of Light took under their wing for a crash course on becoming a hero. FFXIV The Rising 2023 Rewards
You’ll learn Nhagi is only kind of successful a year later. He’s doing fine on his travels but doesn’t quite understand what it means to be an adventurer. To continue the quest, head back to Ul’dah:
- Return to the Wandering Minstrel in The Gold Court
- Speak to Kipih here to begin What Drives Us
- Find Nhagi (Ul’dah – Steps of Thal X:14.2, Y:10.9)
- Return to the Adventurers’ Guild; time to get a little introspective
- Nhagi is waiting just outside, then he’ll ask you return to The Gold Court
- Find the letter with a blue Chocobo drawing
Around the room, you’ll notice letters strung up along marble pillars. You can find the correct letter first thing, but I recommend walking around and reading the other notes. They seem to be messages referencing you, the Warrior of Light, thankful for your encounters in A Realm Reborn through Endwalker.
- Find the blue Chocobo note at Ul’dah – Steps of Thal (X:11.4, Y:10.8)
- Bring the note to Nhagi, then find him again at the Weavers’ Guild
- Finally, the Wandering Minstrel waits at Ul’dah – Steps of Nald (X:10.8, Y:10.2)
Get your screenshot finger ready and maybe a tissue or two; the last cutscene plays upon speaking to the Wandering Minstrel here. I was certainly teary-eyed. A decade is quite a long time to keep playing anything.
The Rising 2023 Rewards
Upon completing The Rising 2023, you’ll receive the Rising Phoenix whistle mentioned above, along with 10 Nymeia potpourri festival favors. Your new mount plays Final Fantasy’s iconic Crystal Theme and instead of riding on the ethereal birdy, you’ll become the Phoenix. Perhaps a reference to an old friend?
Completing this year’s event yields a treasure of extra thoughtful goodies, too. Speak to the Letter Forest Tender in Ul’dah’s Gold Court to read a long list of handwritten thank-yous from characters you’ve met along the way. The What Drives Us quest also earns you the “A Decade of Adventure” achievement, worth ten points for you collector-types.
The Rising Vendor in Ul’dah (X:10.5, Y:8.6) also sells The Land Reborn Orchestrion Roll and Pom from the Heavens Orchestrion Roll. They’re both limited-time buys, along with The Rising Advertisement housing item. Don’t forget to stock up on some Realm Reborn Red for celebratory affairs, too.
It’s not something tangible for your Warrior of Light, but The Rising also unlocks new FFXIV mini-games. In front of the Ruby Road Exchange, you’ll find Nonora (X:10.5, Y:8.3), who has a new challenge. Kupo Kupo Adventure is an adorable, turn-based pixel tribute to old-school Final Fantasy aesthetics. Nonora’s arcade game offers three rounds to fight your way through, encountering bosses like Ultros, Typhon, and Odin. It’s also available via the Toy Box housing item.
And for lore hounds, perhaps the best part of this year’s Rising festivities don’t yield mount rewards or achievements. Speak to Nananji in Ul’dah (X8.9, Y:9.1) to begin Remembering the Past. It’s a tribute to a true hero of the Calamity, Louisoix Leveilleur. You’ll recognize him from FFXIV’s 2.0 relaunch cutscene, and it’s more of a delight for those who completed A Realm Reborn’s Bahamut raid series.
