Don’t ruff it alone
Diablo 4 is in the middle of hosting its beta testing phase, letting players get a firsthand look at the fight against Lilith and her minions. As part of the open beta, players have the chance to not only test out the game but earn a special cosmetic item in the form of a Wolf Pup pet backpack.

One of the saddest parts about the beta is that the save progress from this phase won’t carry over to the full release, despite letting players see a solid chunk of the RPG. Thankfully, there is plenty of reason to still enjoy the Diablo 4 beta, not least of which is the exclusive cosmetic item.
Players have the chance to obtain a backpack pet cosmetic through the beta. The beta Wolf Pup is an adorable little pet who sits in an elaborate bed that your character carries around on their back. To unlock this pet, players must reach level 20 during the beta.
The level cap for all five classes in the Diablo 4 beta is level 25, and you’ll need to nearly reach that max to obtain this pet. The key is that you only have to reach level 20 for one class. You don’t have to worry about leveling up five different characters here.
That alone is still a tall order, since you only have two weekends to reach that milestone.
Is this pet exclusive to the beta?

Worse still, it appears that the Diablo 4 Wolf Pup backpack pet is only available during the beta but will be usable in the game’s full release. From what it seems, there will be no other way to acquire this little fella besides reaching level 20 in the beta.
It’s uncertain if other pets besides the Beta Wolf Pack will be available in the core game, so if you want to guarantee that you have a cuddly companion with you at all times in the world of Sanctuary, be sure to participate in the open beta.
The open beta is available to everyone, regardless of if you’ve pre-ordered the game or not. Anyone on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC are able to join the beta and level up any (or all) of the five classes up to level 25.
In addition, you have the opportunity to play through the entirety of Act 1, including all of its content like side quests and world events. The open beta runs from Friday, March 23 at 9 a.m. PT (12 p.m. ET) through Monday, March 27 at 12 p.m. PT (3 p.m. ET) so be sure pre-load ahead of release to get the most out of your limited time.
