How to get the Farm Computer in Stardew Valley

In order to get your hands on the recipe to make a Farm Computer, you’ll need to have unlocked the Pelican Town Special Orders board, which unlocks on Fall 2 Year 2. Once this board has been installed, you may be able to pick up one of two Special Orders from Demetrius, both of which will require you to go fishing:

  • Biome Balance
    • Requires you to catch 20 fish specific to a biome (River, Lake, Ocean)
  • Aquatic Overpopulation
    • Catch 10 of a season-specific fish

Completing either of these Special Orders will result in the recipe for the Farm Computer being delivered to your mailbox the following morning.

The recipe for the Farm Computer includes only three ingredients, one of which may cause you some trouble:

  • 1 Dwarf Gadget
    • Found by digging between floors 40 and 79 in the Mines, or otherwise found in Magma Geodes, Omni Geodes and Artifact Troves
  • 1 Battery Pack
    • Obtained from a Lightning Rod during a thunderstorm or Solar Panels after seven sunny days
  • 10 Refined Quartz
    • Created in a furnace using one Quartz and one Coal

The Farm Computer can be placed in any location and when used, will display information about the current surroundings. The information provided depends on the location and what you’ve got placed there:

On the farm:

  • Pieces of Hay
  • Total Crops
  • Crops Ready
  • Unwatered Crops
  • Crops Ready In Greenhouse
  • Open Tilled Soil
  • Forage Items
  • Machines Ready
  • Farm Cave Status

Any other location:

  • Total Crops
  • Crops Ready

If you’ve utilised other areas of the map to grow crops or place machines, the Farm Computer is an incredibly handy piece of kit. Sadly, you’ll still need to head to the Casino to find out how many steps you’ve taken, though.
