Becoming a Vasto Lorde in Type Soul is one of the hardest challenges in the game. But doing so will allow you to become an extremely powerful Hollow, so the argument can be made that it is worth doing. We’ve put together a step-by-step guide on how to get Vasto Lorde in Type Soul, and everything you must do to become one.
How to become a Vasto Lorde
This guide assumes you have just become Hollow and are starting as a Menos with the goal of getting Vasto Lorde. If you have already become an Adjuchas or even Albino, and just want to know what you need to do next, scroll down through these steps to find which one you are on. Here is how to get Vasto Lorde in Type Soul:
- First, you must become a Menos. This is the easiest step and simply requires you to kill other Hollows and then consume them using the ‘B’ key. If you are lucky and manage to successfully kill and consume a Menos, you yourself will become a Menos. However, even if you don’t get lucky, killing and consuming enough Hollows will turn you into a Menos.
- Now you must become an Adjuchas. Whatever you do at this point, do not rip off your mask. This will turn you into a Menoscar and end any sort of Hollow progression you are working towards. Instead, you must continue killing and consuming Hollows. Once again, if you are able to get the last hit on an NPC Menos and consume it, you will automatically become an Adjuchas. Otherwise, it just takes a bunch of kills and consumes on Hollows.
- Once you are an Adjuchas, it’s time to start the process of becoming Vasto Lorde. The first part requires you to kill other Adjuchas to earn 50 Mask Cracks. If you are fighting NPCs, you will get one Mask Crack per kill. If you are fighting player Adjuchas, defeating them will take up to five Mask Cracks from them and give them to you. However, if you die, they will instead get up to five of your Mask Cracks.
- Obtaining 50 Mask Cracks will cause you to become Albino. You’ll start seeing whispers on the screen indicating you must keep consuming, and if you relog you’ll look like a beast. This is where it really gets difficult. From here, you have two options:
- 1. You need to defeat the Vasto Lorde NPC at the destination indicated by the flashing arrows on your screen. This is a tough boss that will more than likely require assistance unless you are an elite player. If you die to the Vasto Lorde, you will revert back to a Menos without the ability to ever become a Vasto Lorde unless you wipe your character and start all over from scratch.
- 2. You will have to find another player who is also on the Albino stage and has 50 Mask Cracks. You must then defeat them in combat. If you win, you will gain their 50 Mask Cracks and they will revert back to a Menos without the ability to ever become a Vasto Lorde without wiping and restarting over from scratch. However, if you die in this combat, that will happen to you instead.
- After successfully getting to the 100 Mask Cracks in total, you will finally become Vasto Lorde. Congratulations! It wasn’t easy, but you did it!
Keep in mind that at any time when you are an Adjuchas, if you hit Ctrl+K to rip off your mask, you will become an Arrancar and no longer have the option to become a Vasto Lorde. This is not recommended as an Arrancar is certainly weaker than Vasto Lorde.
