Minecraft has many ways for players to customize their buildings and various items to make them their own. One of the best ways to do this is through the use of dye. Dyes let you color different objects, such as beds, flags, and even entire concrete blocks. Purple is one of the best dyes, and here’s how to make it in Minecraft.
How to make purple dye in Minecraft
The purple dye in Minecraft uses the same process as the other dye. You need to gather a couple of different items beforehand and then use them together at the crafting table to make purple dye. As for the items you need for this particular dye, here is what you should gather to make it:
- 1 red dye
- 1 blue dye
This is where purple dye gets a bit interesting. Unlike some of the other core dyes in the game, such as yellow dye, purple is one that players are only able to get if they create other dyes and then mix them together. Think of it like mixing paints together to create a different color. As such, the core issue with obtaining purple dye is ensuring you have some red and blue dyes made first.
How to make red and blue dye in Minecraft
Starting with the red dye, you can make this particular color in Minecraft by taking any of these ingredients to the crafting table and using them there:
- Beetroot
- Red bush
- Red tulip
- Poppy flower
Again, you don’t need all four of these items; you just need one of each. The flowers like poppy and red tulip are some of the easiest to find in the game, so that is what I would recommend. Put it in the crafting table to get one red dye (or more if you need more).
Now it is time for the blue dye. It is a similar situation for this one as it is with the red dye, where you just need one of these ingredients for each blue dye you make at the crafting table. Here are the ingredients that can make blue dye:
- Cornflower
- Lapis lazuli
These are two harder items to find, especially in the case of lapis lazuli, which you will need to search the mines for. But once you acquire one of these items, take it to the crafting table to turn it into blue dye. Once you have both your red and blue dye, use them together at the crafting table to finally make purple dye.
