Robbing banks and snatching up jewels in Payday 3 is fun, but outside of the main focus of each mission, you can find opportunities to add to your earnings. These might be secret stashes of documents, cash, or jewels hidden around levels, but they will all be tucked away in a safe. If you want to increase your bottom line, complete certain side achievements, or just get to the bottom of what Wixia is up to, then you will need to crack open a safe in Payday 3.
How to crack safes in Payday 3
You can find safes hidden in locked rooms, behind keycards that you will need to steal, or sometimes just sitting out in the open in offices. They are nearly always worth breaking into, offering either jewels, some loose cash, or documents for you to use to your advantage.
To crack open a safe, interact with it, and a dial will appear on the screen. You can’t look around while doing this, so if you start taking fire or are worried about getting downed, hit jump to break the mini-game. There will be a red arrow pointing directly downward at the top of the dial, a grey arrow to the left and right, and three dots at the bottom.
The dots signify how many numbers you still have to get through. At the start, either the left or right arrow will be a bright grey, denoting that you need to turn the dial in that direction. Turn the dial as fast as you can, and look out for when it starts to vibrate. This means you are getting close to the number you need.
When you land on the number, the dial will turn green, and it will instantly turn grey again the moment you go too far. If you do go too far, backtrack as quickly as you can, or you will need to restart the whole process again. Let the dial sit on green until the lock clicks into place, then look at the arrows again. The one in the opposite direction should be lit up, and you need to repeat the process.
Do this three times until all three dials are in place, and then the safe will be cracked, and you can get at whatever is inside. As I said, you will be at risk during this process, so either do it quickly or wait for a break in the police assaults if you cannot get a friend to watch your back while you are doing it.
