In Dragon’s Dogma 2, there are several specific character romance options including the owner of the Rose Chateau Bordelrie, Wilhelmina. Unlike some encounters, this is a fully-fledged romance path that culminates in the Arisen having a passionate and intimate night with Wilhelmina. Here’s how to romance Wilhelmina in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
How to Romance Wilhelmina in Dragon’s Dogma 2
In order to romance Wilhelmina in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you’ll have to complete the Every Rose Has Its Thorn quest, which has four prerequisite quests. These are the main questlines for Brant in Vernworth. Here are the quests that must be completed before you can start the Every Rose Has Its Thorn quest and romance Wilhelmina:
- The Caged Magister
- The Stolen Throne
- Disa’s Plot
- An Unsettling Encounter
What is the point of no return for Wilhelmina’s romance?
You need to visit Wilhelmina at the Rose Chateau Bordelrie immediately after completing The Caged Magister, The Stolen Throne, Disa’s Plot, and An Unsettling Encounter. If you continue with Brant’s quest to the point where he tells you to finish up loose ends in Vernworth before continuing, you need to stop progressing. Continuing will unlock the new area of Battahl, but at this point, it will lock you out of being able to continue romancing Wilhelmina.
If you visit the Rose Chateau Bordelrie, and Wilhelmina only talks about not leaving the Bordelrie often, the Phantom Oxcart, or is simply no longer there, you have progressed too far into the main story and can no longer romance Wilhelmina.
How to complete the Every Rose Has Its Thorn quest
Assuming you have completed the above main quests and are at the right spot to romance Wilhelmina, it’s time to visit her at the Rose Chateau Bordelrie. Head up the spiral staircase to the top floor then head through the double doors in the back; this is Wilhelmina’s room. Speak to Wilhelmina. If she tells you “There’s aught about you, I have to say. You’re not like my other patrons.” then congratulations, you’re ready to start the romancing.
Continue the dialogue with Wilhelmina and she will talk about how many of the Bordelrie’s Patron’s want to take her for herself, eventually confiding in you that she used to live a simpler life but one man changed it all. You only get this dialog if you are able to romance Wilhelmina, so you’re on the right path.
You now need to advance the game world by a couple of days, so go sleep at your house or the Inn for two days and then make sure to wait until nightfall, which is required for the next part of romancing Wilhelmina.
Visit Wilhelmina again at nightfall
Once again head to the Rose Chateau Bordelrie—at nighttime—and up to the third floor. An employee of the Bordelrie will be standing by the door on the right and inform you that Lady Wilhelmina is attending to a patron at present. Head into Wilhelmina’s room via the double doors and go around the bed to see a small painting hanging on the wall. Interact with the painting, which is the same peephole from the earlier Brant quest, and you will see Wilhelmina engaged with Allard.
After a quick segment, Wilhelmina will send Allard away and notice you. She tells you to come into the room. Do so and speak with her and she will fill you in that her plan is to kill Allard as he is the one that ruined Wilhelmina’s life. However, she needs your help to do so. She will ask for your help, and you need to choose the option to Offer your Assistance. She gives you three days to find the evidence she needs and thus starts the quest Every Rose Has Its Thorn.
Visit Sven and Patrick
First, we need to gather some information. Head to Vernworth Castle and to the northwest area of the second floor where you will find Sven’s Chambers, and more importantly Sven inside. You’ll recognize Sven from the main story quests. He will tell you that he’s not sure if he can assist you with exposing Allard, but that Patrick should be able to help you.
You can only proceed at nightfall, so either head to your house, the Inn, or the Tavern and advance to nighttime to proceed. Head to Patrick’s Estate in the Noble Quarter and chat with Patrick, who gives you a hint: Allard is very particular about the placement of his paintings. He thinks he might be hiding something behind one of them, and offers to summon Allard as a distraction while you go and investigate further. When you’re ready to do so, tell Patrick you are ready to proceed.
Obtain the Murder Report
Quickly head outside Allard’s Estate which is also in the Noble Quarter and you should see Allard leaving with a guard. Wait until he’s a little bit away and head into his estate. Immediately go up the stairs and into the door on your left. Look to your left and you’ll see a bag on the ground with a Courtly Tunic in it, but more importantly a small table to the left of it with a painting of a flower above it. Examine the painting and a Murder Report will fall out. Pick it up and the Every Rose Has Its Thorn quest will update.
Obtain the Bribery Investigation Findings
Head back outside and into the Merchant Quarter of Vernworth to the unmarked house circled in the screenshot above. Right inside you will find a table with a rolled-up piece of paper on it that is in fact the Bribery Investigation Findings. Grab it which will once again update the Every Rose Has Its Thorn quest.
Speak with Brant in the Stardrop Inn
Now it’s time to head to the Stardrop Inn in Vernworth and speak with Brant, the NPC that you’ve been doing the main story quests for. As per usual he only appears at the Stardrop Inn at night, so make sure to wait until nightfall, which you can do at the Inn. Talk to him and choose the option Tell me of the Myrmecoleon. Brant will talk about how getting Allard caught will help with your cause anyway, and tell you about the Bribery Investigation Findings.
Thankfully we had the foresight to go ahead and grab it already. You will have the option to hand over an item to Brant. Give him the Bribery Investigation Findings first. This confirms Allard is lining his own pockets via bribery. However, Brant says it’s not quite enough. He gives the option to denounce him, but that’s not what we want to satisfy Wilhelmina; we need him assassinated. Choose the option to Search for More Evidence.
Speak with Brant again and once again choose Tell me of the Myrmecoleon. Give him the Murder Report this time, which is is sufficient enough for Brant to condemn Allard. However, he says a man of his position can’t really do the deed. Choose the second option, “I’ll have any aid you can give.”
Visit Wilhelmina again at the Rose Chateau Bordelrie
Once again wait until nightfall then visit the Rose Chateau Bordelrie and you will find Wilhelmina on the balcony in her quarters on the top floor. She asks if you found what you were looking for. Hand her the Murder Report and the Bribery Investigation Findings. Choose the option “Continue offering your aid” and Wilhelmina accepts your help. The Every Rose Has Its Thorn will update again. Follow Wilhelmina out of her chambers and to the room immediately to your left.
Restrain Allard for Wilhelmina
Allard is inside this room. He’s understandably shocked to see you and tries to escape. Get within melee range of him and choose the Grab option, which is the E key by default on PC.
A cutscene will follow, ending with Wilhelmina suggesting you and her exit via the window, which you should do. On the ground, you will encounter Brant, who tells you to follow him. Wilhelmina tells you to visit her at the Myrmecoleon tomorrow. Follow Brant away from the castle grounds and into the Merchant Quarter area of Vernworth.
Wait 1 day, then rendezvous with Wilhelmina
You now need to progress to the next day, which you can do so at your house or any Inn. The next day return to the Rose Chateau Bordelrie one last time and head to the top floor and to Wilhelmina’s chambers. Speak with her and you and Wilhelmina will share a passionate night together! Congratulations, you have officially romanced Wilhelmina in Dragon’s Dogma 2!
The next morning, you will complete the Every Rose Has Its Thorn quest, which grants you some experience, 8,500 G, and the Ring of Benevolence.
Wilhelmina informs you she has to leave for a while, but assures you that the Rose Chateau Bordelrie will continue to serve as your safe haven. The next day I could not find Wilhelmina anywhere, so I assume she did in fact leave. I’ve yet to encounter her again so it’s possible this is the definitive end to her storyline and your ability to romance her.
