Smoking fish in Stardew Valley has multiple benefits, from feeding hungry raccoons to eating for increased energy and health. However, unlocking this feature requires buying a specific crafting recipe and obtaining some challenging items before diving into cooking mechanics. Here’s how to smoke fish in Stardew Valley.
How to smoke fish in Stardew Valley
Smoking fish in Stardew Valley requires purchasing the fish smoker recipe from Willy’s shop for 10,000 gold and crafting it using hardwood and three jelly types. Once you create your fish smoker, you can toss any fish into it to turn it into its smoked variant, allowing you to feed the Big Tree raccoons or eat the fish to restore energy.
How to buy and craft the fish smoker in Stardew Valley
The first step to smoking fish is buying the fish smoker recipe from Willy’s shop for 10,000 gold. Willy’s shop is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in-game time, with Willy appearing at the register at 9 a.m.
Once you purchase the recipe, you’ll need the following items to craft the smoker:
- Hardwood (10)
- Sea Jelly (1)
- River Jelly (1)
- Cave Jelly (1)
While you can easily find hardwood in the Secret Forest and on your farm, the three jelly types are difficult to obtain. All three jellies require you to fish, each located at the beach, river, and caves, respectively. Once you get every item, craft the smoker and use a fish alongside some coal before waiting for them to finish cooking. Much like using a furnace, it isn’t an immediate process, making this a good time to do other things before returning to grab your food. Eventually, the fish will finish smoking, allowing you to give it to the raccoons, keep it, or sell it for extra money.
