One of the earliest jobs you can unlock!
Much like its predecessor, Octopath Traveler II features loads of customization options for your party. As you traverse Solistia, you can discover secondary classes that will augment your characters with new skills, passive abilities, and stat upgrades. However, while Octopath Traveler only let you mix and match the 8 base jobs until its late game, Octopath Traveler II takes a different path.
The Inventor job differs from any of the core classes donned by the eight protagonists. Rather than learning skills via job points, Inventors craft inventions by gathering specific materials. After crafting an invention, anyone using the class can utilize their new tools in battle for no SP cost. That said, you’ll need to be careful; after using an invention, you’ll need to take turns to rebuild it before it will work again.
This job can be unlocked so early that it’s even available in the prologue demo. That said, it will only be easily accessible for protagonists on the east side of the world map. That doesn’t mean these characters are necessarily better than others, but keep this in mind if you’re trying to make the most of your demo’s duration. Here’s what you need to do.
Where to find the Inventor class
To unlock Inventor, go to the Eastern New Delsta Highroad. This is located near Throné’s starting point, so travel towards her marker on the map if you didn’t start with her. The Highroad is one of the main intersections on the map, so you can’t miss it.
Once you’re here, look for a shack near the northeast side of the zone. Walk in and talk with the NPC standing inside. After a brief conversation, you’ll read through the crafting requirements’ of the Inventor’s skillset and unlock the job. It’s that easy!
Who to give the Inventor job to
This class is generally well rounded. It gives bonus stats across a character’s primary stats and grants access to swords and axes. Most characters can function well as an Inventor, but Partitio synergizes especially well from the job. He benefits from both the added weapon types and makes good use of the support-oriented effects of the inventions. Throné is also a solid choice for Inventor, which is fitting considering how easy it is for her to unlock. Otherwise, feel free to slap it on attackers like Hikari or Ochette to give them another weapon type to use.
Jobs can be swapped at any time, and you’re bound to find many more during your adventure. In other words, don’t sweat too hard trying to maximize this particular unlock. Enjoy your adventure in Solistia!
