Uncover the true path of The Lost Isle
Octopath Traveler 2 has no shortage of job classes to unlock. Between the guilds scattered throughout Solistia and the bonus jobs you’ve likely stumbled upon, you’ll have plenty of build options available to you throughout the game. That said, once you progress into Octopath Traveler 2’s endgame, there will be a couple additional secret jobs hiding right under your nose. The Arcanist is one of them.
To unlock the Arcanist, you’ll need access to your own boat. If you’re missing that, check out our guide here. Additionally, you’ll need to slay the Scourge of the Sea boss that obstructs your way to the eastern side of the ocean. If you can defeat this boss, you most likely meet the level requirement to explore the area ahead. If you’re having trouble, consider progressing through story objectives to level up. With that out of the way, let’s dive into the guide.
Where to find the Arcanist
The Arcanist job is found in The Lost Isle. As implied above, this island is located in the eastern part of the ocean past the Scourge of the Sea. Sail as if you’re approaching Clockbank and you should stumble upon it.
Once you arrive, you’ll see a giant maze in front of you. You can examine a sign that alludes to “the true path.” Many treasure chests are hidden along this maze, so you may prefer to explore and pick up the goods first. Among these are another “Blessing in Disguise” accessory, bolstering equipment that would otherwise drop your stats.
At the end of this maze is a stairway, but you won’t find any treasure atop it. Instead, you’ll find another sign alluding to “the true path.” As you explored the maze, you may have noticed some sparkles flowing from the left side of where the first sign was located. Go back to that starting point and run left to uncover a secret path. Keep walking and you’ll stumble upon an out-of-sight platform where the Arcanist Descendent will await you. Talk to them and just like that, the Arcanist job will unlock.
Unlike Inventor and Armsmaster, Arcanist is a straightforward job that requires JP to unlock skills. These range from powerful attack spells to support skills with a wide variety of unique effects. Osvald is a natural choice for this job, but give it to whoever benefits your team the most. Find the build that works for you!
